I love all the seasons, but Autumn is by far my favourite. It's so rich with aspects that I enjoy, that it truly shouldn't be surprising. I'm a summer child in terms of being born in July, but I never really felt close to it. My favourite month is October, it's in the middle and it's the most autumnal one I think. So why do I love autumn so much? Here's a few reasons...
1. The weather and all that comes with it
Count me in when it comes to rain, colder weather, fuzzy socks, tea, blankets, rain coats and wellies! I've been a fan ever since I was little... I was that kid who was jumping in puddles and had the special see through umbrellas. Safe to say rainy days were never depressing to me ;).
Who isn't a fan of roasted chestnuts and apple cyder? Or toffee apples for that matter? It's also fig season... yumm!
3. Autumn scents
Have you ever smelled ripe grapes in the air, mixed with the scent of burning wood in the distance while also taking a whiff of freshly fallen rain? If I could capture that same scent, I'd bathe in it basically. I can't really describe the way it makes me feel, but It's all kinds of good at the same time. It's like trying to define love with words... you just can't do it.
Ahh.. the colours! I could never grow sick of them. Every shade of yellow, orange and red... and it just works you know? It's warm and inviting. It's like nature is having a night time routine before going to sleep under a blanket of snow. I'd watch that YouTube video!
Halloween, a holiday that's not really celebrated in Slovenia, If you don't count the heavy partying. I wish it was more of a tradition here, but hey... I get into the mood and I get the decorations going. You kind of have to make the most of it. Each year I grow pumpkins in the garden, so I can either cook something out of them, share the All Hallows Eve spirit by giving some to my friends and neighbours, or taking pictures of them for my blog. There's also the British Bonfire night, which I wish we had in November... but ours is in May :(.
6. Scented candles and dark lipsticks
A big yes to the dark lips! I can't wait to rock my dark shades this year. The most used will be my matte Instigator lipstick by MAC and my Charlotte Tilbury matte revolution lipstick in Glastonberry. And don't get me started on the candles! I really want to get my hands on the Feu De Bois by Diptyque, and maybe a new pumpkin scented one from Yankee Candle if I can find one.
